SafeComp 2027

46th International Conference on Computer Safety, Reliability and Security
6-9 September 2027
York, United Kingdom

The 46th International Conference on Computer Safety, Reliability and Security

Welcome to SafeComp 2027

Welcome to the 46th edition of SafeComp in York, United Kingdom.

This year, we invite you to explore the theme
“Innovation in Safety Assurance for Complex Autonomous Systems”.

As increasingly complex, interconnected, and autonomous systems become embedded in safety-critical applications, assuring their safety presents new challenges. Emergent and evolving behaviour, artificial intelligence, and systems operating at industrial scale require us to rethink established approaches to safety assurance. SafeComp 2027 provides a forum to explore innovative methods, techniques, and practical solutions for addressing these challenges and advancing the dependable use of complex autonomous systems.

Why Attend? SafeComp offers a unique single-track format without parallel sessions. This structure ensures you never miss a key talk and provides fantastic opportunity for networking, exchanging insights and experience, and discussing emerging research and practical solutions with experts from academia and industry.

Conference Contributions

Research Track

SafeComp 2027 invites submissions of research papers and experience/industry papers presenting methods, architectures, techniques, and tools for advancing the safety, dependability, and cybersecurity of critical computer systems and infrastructures.

Position Paper & Posters

Position Papers provide an opportunity to present new ideas, work in progress, perspectives, or emerging challenges related to safety-critical and dependable systems, enabling authors to receive early feedback and engage with the SafeComp community.

Workshops

Workshops provide a dynamic forum for presenting novel ideas, exchanging perspectives, and discussing preliminary results in a collaborative environment that brings together researchers, industry practitioners, and academics to connect, exchange knowledge, and foster collaboration.

40 years of High Integrity Systems Engineering

In 2027 we celebrate 40 years of the High Integrity Systems Engineering (HISE) group at the University of York. The group’s research has influenced national and international safety standards, guidelines and regulations. These include ISO 26262, the international standard for programmable electronics and software used by all automotive suppliers and DO-178C, the international avionics software standard. The GSN method, which is used to document and present proof that safety goals have been achieved, has advanced the implementation of safety case practice within regulatory structures and processes. Our ongoing research focuses on safety-critical software development and assurance across multiple domains, including emerging autonomous technologies. The group is involved in many major projects including the Lloyd’s Register Foundation funded Centre for Assuring Autonomy (CfAA), and UKRI AI Centre for Doctoral Training in Safe Artificial Intelligence Systems (SAINTS).
